I travelled to Kut Ta Phet on several occasions in the early 2000s with my dear friend and fellow artist, Viruch Pikhuntod , to visit his family. I spent many afternoons wandering the village, meeting people and documenting rural Thai life in the area. Many thanks to all those who welcomed me and allowed me to photograph them. I still have very fond memories of the little gang of boys coming to ask for me by calling out “Farang, farang” (meaning white foreigner in Thai). They’d follow me around and scout out some beautiful spots for photographing. Sadly, Viruch died in 2015, and my last visit to his village was to bid farewell to him with his family and friends.
